Starting with the IDF Modeller for Alibre Design uses standard IDF data (exported from many PCB design packages) to automatically produce an accurate, simplified 3D model of your populated PCB, before you finally commit your design.
Check fits and clearances between the board, enclosure, and other items. Optimise enclosure design around the board.
Try out your assembly methods virtually – check tool access, board insertion obstacles, fastener lengths, etc.
Sometimes a more realistic 3D Computer Aided Design model of the board is needed – IDF modeller allows simple substitution of realistically modelled components (modelled in Alibre, or downloaded from the internet) via a library. The subsequent board models can be displayed in Alibre Design, or transferred to a rendering package to produce ‘photographs’.
